Sanmac 2205 is an improved version of the duplex stainless steel Alloy 2205, known for its excellent machinability. It outperforms standard 2205 grades and other duplex alloys in machining applications by offering extended tool life and increased productivity. With its exceptional corrosion properties, Sanmac 2205 is highly suitable for environments containing chlorides and hydrogen sulfide. It is commonly used in sour wells, refineries, and process solutions contaminated with chlorides, making it ideal for oil and gas extraction. Sanmac 2205 is particularly well-suited for heat exchangers that utilize chloride-bearing or brackish water as a cooling medium. It also exhibits compatibility with dilute sulfuric acid solutions and the handling of organic acids like acetic acid and mixtures. The high strength of Sanmac 2205 makes it an attractive alternative to austenitic steels in structures subjected to heavy loads. Overall, the combination of good mechanical and corrosion properties of Sanmac 2205 makes it a cost-effective choice in various applications, reducing the life cycle cost of equipment.
